RV Detailing and Reconditioning in Placentia, California
RV detailing and reconditioning restores oxidized gelcoat and paint, removes black streaks, polishes and seals the exterior, and deep cleans the interior including upholstery and carpet extraction. Detail labor is $95 per hour and most packages run $500 to $2,000. Work is performed in-shop in Yorba Linda, about ten minutes from Placentia via Yorba Linda Blvd.
Can badly oxidized RV gelcoat be brought back?
Usually yes, if there is enough gelcoat left to cut. Oxidation is a degraded surface layer, and compounding removes it to expose sound material underneath. On a coach that has been chalking for years the layer may be too thin to survive correction, at which point refinishing is the honest recommendation.
We test a small section first and measure the result before committing to a full coach. That test panel tells the owner exactly what the finish will look like, which is more useful than any promise, and it prevents paying for correction that the substrate cannot deliver.
Sealing after correction is what makes the work last in this climate. Bare corrected gelcoat with no protective coating will begin oxidizing again within months under Southern California ultraviolet exposure, so a sealant or ceramic style coating is part of the package rather than an upsell.
Is reconditioning worth it before selling an RV?
Usually, and by a wide margin. A coach with corrected paint, clean seals, a fresh interior and no black streaks photographs and shows dramatically better, and buyers routinely discount a dull, streaked unit far more than the reconditioning would have cost to prevent.
Reconditioning is also a condition audit. Working over every square foot of the exterior surfaces cracked sealant, hazed lenses, a lifting decal edge and a soft spot on the roof, all of which are cheaper to address before a buyer's inspector finds them and renegotiates.
Interior work matters as much as exterior. Odor is the fastest way to lose a buyer, and it usually comes from a specific source such as a gray tank, a damp cabinet base or upholstery, which extraction and source correction resolve rather than mask.
