Commercial Truck and Heavy Duty Collision Repair Near Placentia, CA

OCRV Center repairs commercial and heavy duty trucks for Placentia fleets at our 35,000 sq ft Yorba Linda facility, about ten minutes away via Imperial Highway. We handle Class 4 through Class 8 cabs, frame rails, box bodies, reefer boxes, dump bodies and lift gates, with documented insurance billing, DOT compliance items addressed, and scheduling built around your downtime cost rather than ours.

What does commercial and heavy duty collision repair actually cover?

Commercial trucks fail differently than passenger vehicles. The damage tends to be structural, corrosion driven, or the result of repeated loading cycles rather than a single impact. Placentia fleet managers bring us four broad categories of work, and most trucks arrive with more than one.

The first category is impact damage: dock strikes on rear frames and corner posts, low clearance strikes on box roofs and roof fairings, curbside strikes on bay doors and cab steps, and highway collisions that push a frame rail out of square. Frame and chassis work happens on our equipment with measured reference points, not by eye.

The second is structural fatigue. Dump body subframes crack at the hoist mount. Flatbed crossmembers loosen at the U-bolt saddles. Box bodies work loose at the box-to-frame mounts and start racking, which shows up first as a roll-up door that binds halfway through its travel. These are welding and reinforcement jobs, not panel jobs.

The third is corrosion and wear. Cab corners, rockers, and step wells on medium duty work trucks rot from road salt tracked in on cargo and from water sitting behind poorly sealed seams. We cut back to sound metal, weld in replacement sections, and seal properly rather than skimming filler over rust that will lift again in a year.

The fourth is compliance. Damaged DOT lighting, torn reflective conspicuity tape, broken mirrors, damaged mud flaps and compromised air brake plumbing all put a truck out of service. We correct those items as part of the repair so the unit leaves ready to run, not ready for a second visit.

How do you keep a truck out of service for as little time as possible?

Every day a commercial unit sits is a day of lost revenue, a rented replacement, or a route reassigned. We treat downtime as a line item in the repair plan and manage it deliberately rather than promising a date and hoping the parts arrive.

We write the estimate with photos and part numbers up front, submit it to the carrier, and order long lead items such as fiberglass hoods, roll-up door panels, deck boards and reefer bulkhead panels before the truck comes off the road. The unit arrives when the parts do.

For fleets running multiple similar units we stage repairs so only one truck is down at a time. If a truck is drivable and the damage is cosmetic, we can hold it on the route until the body work slot opens rather than parking it in our yard as inventory.

Supplements are the usual source of schedule slip. When we open a cab corner or lift a box floor and find more damage, we document it immediately with photos and get the supplement moving the same day, so the approval is running in parallel with the work already authorized instead of after it.

How does insurance and documentation work on a commercial claim?

Commercial claims carry more paperwork than personal lines. There is often a carrier, a lessor, a shipper and a safety department all wanting the same file. We build the documentation once, correctly, so it satisfies all of them without you chasing us for photos.

We work direct with Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA SoCal, Mercury, Allstate, American Family, Wawanesa, National General, Foremost, Liberty Mutual and others. That means we handle the estimate, the supplement, the photo documentation and the parts invoicing while your dispatcher keeps running routes.

Every commercial file we build includes before photos, teardown photos, part numbers, repair procedure notes, and after photos. On structural work we document the measurement session so there is a record that the frame was brought back within tolerance and not simply pulled until it looked straight.

For reefer and insulated bodies we also document temperature integrity, since a panel repair that compromises the vapor barrier will show up months later as a wet, heavy, poorly performing box. That documentation matters to both the carrier and whoever hauls the load next.

Placentia operators who self insure or carry high deductibles get the same file. We will tell you honestly which items are structural and must be done, which are cosmetic and can wait for the next slot, and what each one costs at our posted labor rates.

How the work runs, step by step

  1. 1

    Intake and damage walk

We walk the unit with your driver or fleet manager, photograph every damaged area, and pull the VIN and body tag data before anything is disassembled.

Same day, usually under an hour

  2. 2

    Documented estimate and carrier submission

We build a photo estimate with part numbers and repair procedures, then submit it directly to your carrier and to your fleet office at the same time.

    1 to 3 business days

  3. 3

    Parts staging before teardown

Long lead body panels, door panels, deck material and glass are ordered and received before the truck comes off the route, so downtime starts when work starts.

Varies by part, often 3 to 15 days

  4. 4

    Structural and body repair

Frame, subframe and body structure work happens first, followed by panel replacement, welding, corrosion treatment and seam sealing on sound metal.

    2 to 10 shop days

  5. 5

    Refinish, graphics and compliance items

Paint is matched and sprayed in our booth, graphics are coordinated, and DOT lighting, conspicuity tape and mirrors are restored to a compliant condition.

    2 to 5 shop days

  6. 6

    Final inspection and release

We road test where applicable, verify lighting and air system integrity, complete the photo file, and release the unit to your driver at our Yorba Linda facility.

Questions we get asked

Do you work on Class 8 tractors or only medium duty trucks?
Both. Our bays and lift capacity handle Class 4 through Class 8, including sleeper tractors, day cabs, and trucks with body equipment already mounted. Frame rail work, hood and fairing replacement, cab structure repair and refinish are all done in-shop at Yorba Linda, roughly ten minutes from Placentia.
Can you get a truck back in service faster if it is a DOT out-of-service issue?
Usually yes. If the truck is parked purely because of lighting, conspicuity tape, mirrors, mud flaps or a damaged air line, those are short jobs and we will prioritize them so the unit can run while the cosmetic body work is scheduled for a later slot. Tell us at intake that it is a compliance stop.
What does a commercial estimate cost and how is it applied?
A one hour diagnostic runs $285 and is applied as a credit toward the repair. Our labor rates are $210 per hour for body and paint and $260 per hour for mechanical and electrical work. For a straightforward body estimate on a drivable unit we can often quote from documented photos and a walk of the truck.
Do you handle the insurance paperwork or does our office have to?
We handle it. We bill direct with Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA SoCal, Mercury, Allstate, Liberty Mutual and other major carriers, and we write and submit supplements ourselves with supporting photos. Your office receives the same documentation package the carrier does, so nothing is a surprise at invoicing.
Do you perform any work at our yard in Placentia?
No. All work is performed in-shop at our Yorba Linda facility, which is where the full-height bays, lift capacity, frame equipment, welding stations and paint booth are. Placentia is a short drive via Imperial Highway or the 91. Drop-off and pickup both happen at the shop, and we stand behind our work.
