Flatbed Truck Deck and Headache Rack Repair for Placentia Operators

Headache racks bend at the uprights and tear at the base plates. We assess whether the rack can be straightened and reinforced or whether the base structure has been torn badly enough that replacement is the honest answer. A rack that has yielded once will yield again at a lower load.

Behind the rack, the forward crossmembers and the deck-to-frame U-bolt saddles take the shock. Elongated U-bolt holes, cracked saddle welds and a deck that has shifted rearward relative to the frame are all common findings once the truck is on the rack and we can look underneath.

The cab guard and the rear of the cab itself often show secondary damage: a dented rear cab panel, a cracked back window, and damaged air line or wiring runs that were pinched between the rack and the cab. Those get repaired at the same time so the truck does not come back for a leak.

Wood decks get individual board replacement where the surrounding boards are sound, or a full re-deck where the wear is general. Steel and aluminum decks are inspected for cracked welds at the crossmember to rail joints, corrosion under the deck plate, and distortion from point loading by forklift wheels or equipment tracks.

Stake pockets and rub rails take chain and strap loads directly and are frequently torn or bent. We reweld or replace them with correct material and prep so the tie-down point is actually rated to hold, because a repaired pocket that fails under a binder is a serious safety problem.

Side kits, removable stakes and tie-down anchors are checked and refit at the same time. Once the deck and hardware are sound the assembly is refinished, and the deck-to-frame U-bolt mounting is retorqued to spec on our chassis equipment before the truck leaves Yorba Linda.
