Trailer Repair Shop Serving Placentia, California

Placentia trailer owners bring bumper-pull travel trailers, toy haulers, expandables, utility decks and enclosed cargo boxes to our Yorba Linda shop, about ten minutes away by Imperial Highway or the 91. We handle A-frame and coupler repair, axle and suspension work, roof membrane and sidewall rebuilds, ramp door hardware and full refinishing. Every job is performed in-shop where the bays, lifts and paint booth are.

Which towable trailers does the shop actually take in?

Anything that hitches to a ball or a pintle and rolls on its own axles, from a fifteen foot single-axle travel trailer up to a forty foot destination unit, plus open utility decks and enclosed cargo boxes used by Placentia trades.

The towable side of the business splits into two families. Recreational towables, meaning travel trailers, toy haulers, expandables, hybrids, off-road units and destination trailers, share EPDM or TPO roof membranes, laminated or stick-built sidewalls, Dexter or AL-KO axles and RV-grade appliances and plumbing.

Commercial towables, meaning utility trailers and enclosed cargo trailers, are simpler in systems but harder on structure. They see overload, curb strikes, loading dock contact and years of salt and irrigation spray, so the work runs toward cross members, spring hangers, deck boards, skin panels and wiring rather than cabinetry.

We take both because the underlying skills overlap. A cracked A-frame gusset is welded the same way whether it sits under a toy hauler or a landscape trailer, and a leaking roof seam still starts with cutting out the failed sealant instead of smearing new caulk over it.

How do you diagnose frame, axle and suspension problems?

We put the trailer on level ground, measure ride height side to side, check the coupler and A-frame for cracks and elongation, then pull the wheels to look at bearings, brake magnets, spring eyes, shackles and hanger welds before anything gets quoted.

Tandem trailers hide their failures. An equalizer with a worn bushing quietly transfers load to one axle, which then scrubs tires, cooks a bearing and bends a spindle. By the time an owner in Placentia notices uneven tire wear, the hanger welds have often started to crack at the toe.

A-frame and coupler damage from a jackknife or a curb drop is measured, not eyeballed. We check the tongue for twist, verify the coupler height against the loaded frame line, and cut and replace sections rather than heating and bending a member back into rough alignment.

Suspension and brake work is finished with a loaded road test on our own property and a brake controller check so the electric drum magnets actually pull evenly instead of grabbing one side and pushing the trailer around behind the tow vehicle.

What does trailer roof, sidewall and paint work involve here?

Sealant maintenance, membrane replacement, delamination repair, aluminum or fiberglass skin panel work and full refinishing all happen under one roof at the Yorba Linda facility, with color matching including multi-stage and gel coat blending.

Most trailer water damage traces back to five places: the front and rear roof radius, the termination bar along the roof-to-sidewall joint, the vent and air conditioner openings, the entry door frame and the marker light bases. We find the entry point before we replace anything soft.

Sidewall delamination gets injected and clamped where the substrate is still sound, and gets opened, dried and rebuilt with new luan or Azdel where the wall has gone spongy. Patching over a wet wall just moves the failure six inches down the panel.

Refinishing runs from a single blended panel after a curb scrape to a full exterior repaint on a destination trailer that has sat in Southern California sun for a decade. Everything is sprayed in the booth so the finish is not fighting wind, dust and pollen.

How the work runs, step by step

  1. 1

    Intake and damage mapping

We walk the trailer with the owner, photograph every damaged area and note the tow vehicle and loading habits that caused it.

    Same day at drop-off

  2. 2

    Structural and systems inspection

Wheels come off, the frame is checked for cracks and twist, and the roof and seams are probed for soft substrate.

    One to two shop days

  3. 3

    Written estimate and carrier submission

You get a line-item estimate with photos, and we submit directly to Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA SoCal, Mercury or your carrier.

    Usually within two business days

  4. 4

    Parts sourcing and teardown

Axles, couplers, ramp hardware, membrane and skin panels are ordered while damaged material is removed down to sound structure.

Three to ten days depending on parts

  5. 5

    Repair, refinish and reassembly

Welding, panel work, roof and seal work and paint are completed in sequence, then trim, lights and hardware go back on.

    Three to fifteen shop days

  6. 6

    Loaded verification and pickup

Brakes, lights, bearings and torque are verified, the roof is water tested, and the trailer is picked up in Yorba Linda.

Trailers we repair

Questions we get asked

Do you work on trailers registered to a Placentia address?
Yes. Placentia owners make up a steady share of our towable work because the shop sits about ten minutes east on Imperial Highway. Registration address does not change anything about the repair, the insurance billing or the labor rate. Drop-off and pickup both happen at the Yorba Linda facility.
What does a trailer estimate cost and is it applied to the job?
An RV systems estimate is $150 and is applied as a credit toward the repair. If the problem is electrical or requires diagnostic time on a brake controller, wiring harness or converter, that is billed at the $285 diagnostic rate with a one hour minimum, also applied as a credit toward the completed repair.
Can you handle the insurance claim on a trailer collision?
We bill direct with Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA SoCal, Mercury, Allstate, American Family, Wawanesa, National General, Foremost, Liberty Mutual and others. We build a documented photo estimate, submit it, and handle supplements when teardown reveals hidden frame or sidewall damage that the first adjuster photos did not show.
How long will my trailer be in the shop?
A ramp door hinge, a set of deck boards or a light wiring repair often turns in two to four shop days. Roof membrane replacement runs one to three weeks depending on length and how much substrate is wet. Structural collision work with frame sections and refinishing can run three to six weeks.
