Why are all municipal vehicles grouped into one category?
Because they share a shop workflow. A fire engine, a refuse packer and a school bus look nothing alike, but all three are agency owned, purchase order billed, uptime sensitive and built as a specialty body mounted to a commercial chassis. We deliberately absorbed municipal fleet work into this single category instead of splitting it.
Every municipal vehicle we take in has two structures that must be reconciled: the chassis the manufacturer built and the body somebody else mounted to it. Damage almost always shows up at the interface between them, at mounting rails, subframe outriggers, torsion points and body-to-frame brackets. That is the same diagnostic conversation whether the body is a packer, a patient module or a bus shell.

How do you keep a fleet vehicle from sitting in the shop?
Uptime is the metric that matters to a fleet manager, not turnaround on any one job. A district running a fixed number of routes cannot absorb a bus out of service for six weeks, and a department with three engines cannot lose one indefinitely. We plan the work around that constraint.
We front-load the estimate. A documented photo estimate with an itemized scope goes out before teardown wherever the damage allows it, so purchasing can begin moving a PO while parts are being sourced. Specialty body parts, apparatus components and lift assemblies are the long lead items, and they get ordered first.
Where a fleet has an off-season, we use it. Plow and spreader trucks come in during the warm months. School buses get body and structural work between terms. Sweepers get hopper and broom assembly work scheduled around street sweeping route rotations. Planned work is always cheaper and faster than emergency work.
