Camper Repair Shop Serving Placentia, California

Placentia camper owners bring pop-ups, teardrops, A-frames, slide-in truck campers, flatbed builds and overland rigs to our Yorba Linda shop, about ten minutes away on Imperial Highway or the 91. We repair canvas and lift systems, galley hatches, hard-wall roof mechanisms, jack brackets and composite panel seams, plus the collision and structural work that follows a strike. Everything is performed in-shop.

Which camper types does the shop actually work on?

Small campers are not one category. A canvas pop-up, a plywood teardrop, a slide-in truck camper and a welded aluminum flatbed box fail in completely different places, so we keep the tooling, fixtures and materials for each of them on hand rather than sending owners elsewhere.

Soft-side pop-ups come in for canvas and vinyl replacement, lift cable and winch work, bed slide rail repair and ABS roof cap cracking. Hard-side pop-ups come in for telescoping panel alignment, roof lift mechanism binding and full gasket set replacement at the raising roof.

Teardrops arrive with galley hatch hinge and strut failure, hatch seal leaks and small-scale skin dents around rivet lines. Slide-in truck campers arrive with jack bracket tears, turnbuckle damage to the pickup bed rail and cabover nose water intrusion. Flatbed and overland builds arrive with subframe mount cracks, corner post weld failures and dissimilar metal corrosion.

Placentia owners running toward the Sierra, Baja or the Mojave put real load through these structures. We size the repair to how the camper is actually used, not to the lightest patch that will pass a photo.

What fails first on a small camper?

The first failure is almost always a seal, a hinge or a mechanism, not a panel. Campers move, fold, telescope and flex far more than a fixed-wall trailer, and every moving joint is a place where water and fatigue get their opening over a few seasons of use.

Perimeter roof gaskets compress permanently, so the roof no longer seats evenly and water tracks down the inside of the sidewall. Lift cables fray at the pulley sheave and the roof arms fall out of sync, which racks the roof frame and cracks the ABS or fiberglass cap at the corner radius.

On the structural side, single axles go out of alignment after a curb strike and start scrubbing tires, tongue boxes get crushed in a backing accident, and Dexter torsion axle rubber loses its rate after enough loaded miles. We catch these on the same teardown rather than treating them as separate visits.

Interior damage follows the water. Luan delamination, soft galley floors and corroded 12v terminal blocks are all downstream of a seal nobody resealed. Fixing the leak without replacing the wet substrate just moves the failure a season down the road.

Why does all camper work happen in-shop?

A pop-up roof has to come off its lift arms on stands. A truck camper has to be dejacked, supported and pulled off the pickup. A flatbed box needs welding, and paint needs a booth. None of that happens correctly in a driveway, so all of it happens at our Yorba Linda facility.

The building is 35,000 sq ft with full-height bays, a paint booth, frame and chassis equipment, and lift capacity to hold a loaded camper body while the truck underneath is driven out. That is what makes a clean structural repair possible instead of a cosmetic one.

We run 50 to 150 repairs per month and roughly 20 major collisions per month, with California BAR license ARD00288521 and EPA CAL000367879 on file. Drop-off and pickup both happen here, a short drive from Placentia, and we document the teardown with photos for the insurance supplement.

How the work runs, step by step

  1. 1

    Intake and structural walkaround

We photograph the camper at our Yorba Linda facility, log the damage, and note how the unit is loaded and towed.

    Day one

  2. 2

    Teardown and moisture mapping

Interior panels come off so we can meter the substrate, trace the water path, and find hidden rot before quoting anything.

    1 to 2 days

  3. 3

    Written estimate and carrier submission

You get a documented photo estimate; if a carrier is involved we submit it directly and handle supplements as we open things up.

    1 to 3 days

  4. 4

    Structure, seal and mechanism repair

Framing, welding, panel bonding, lift mechanisms and gasket sets are corrected before any finish work is scheduled.

    2 to 8 days

  5. 5

    Paint, reassembly and water test

Panels are refinished in the booth, the camper is reassembled, then it goes under water test before we call you.

    2 to 4 days

  6. 6

    Delivery walkthrough

We walk the finished repair with you at the shop, show the before photos, and go over what to watch going forward.

Campers we repair

Questions we get asked

How much does a camper estimate cost?
The RV systems estimate is $150 and it is applied as a credit toward the repair once you approve the work. If the problem is electrical or mechanical and needs instrumented diagnosis, that is billed at $285 per hour with a one hour minimum, also credited toward the repair. You get documented photos with either path.
Do you work with my insurance company on camper damage?
Yes. We bill directly with Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA SoCal, Mercury, Allstate, American Family, Wawanesa, National General, Foremost, Liberty Mutual and others. Campers frequently need supplements because the real damage hides behind interior panels, so we photograph the teardown and submit the supplement with evidence attached rather than arguing about it later.
I live in Placentia. How far is the shop and do you handle drop-off?
Our shop sits at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, roughly ten minutes from Placentia by way of Imperial Highway or the 91 freeway. All work is performed in-shop, and both drop-off and pickup happen here, where the bay height, lift capacity, welding equipment and paint booth actually are. Call (949) 799-3387 to schedule.
Can you repair a camper that has water damage in the walls?
Yes, and that is a large share of what we do. We meter the panels, open the affected area, replace wet luan or composite substrate, repair or replace framing members, then reseal with butyl and the correct lap sealant for that roof material. Patching over a soft wall without replacing the substrate is not a repair. We stand behind our work.
What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. We are closed Sunday. If you are coming from Placentia and want a teardown appointment rather than just a look, call ahead so we can hold a bay and the right technician for your camper type.
