RV Collision and Structural Repair for Placentia, California

Collision and structural repair covers what happens after impact: crushed sidewalls, bent frame rails, delaminated fiberglass and split cap seams. OCRV Center handles this work in-shop at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, about ten minutes from Placentia via Yorba Linda Blvd. Body labor runs $210 per hour, and a structural teardown starts with a $150 RV systems estimate applied as a credit.

What counts as structural damage on an RV?

Structural damage means the load path is compromised, not just the skin. On a motorhome that includes the steel or aluminum cage, the floor outriggers, the chassis rails and the laminated sidewall that carries shear between them. Cosmetic panel damage is a different job at a different price.

A useful field test is whether the openings still square up. If a slide-out room binds on one corner, an entry door needs a shoulder to latch, or a windshield gasket has started to walk out of its channel, the cage has moved and the repair is structural rather than cosmetic.

The second test is the floor. Class A and Class C floors are usually laminated plywood or Azdel bonded to steel outriggers. When an impact drives the outrigger up, the floor telegraphs a soft ripple you can feel underfoot long before you can see it in paint.

How does an insurance collision claim work at your shop?

Most of the major collisions we take each month are insurance jobs. The pattern is consistent: an initial appraisal that only sees the outside, a teardown that finds two to five times the visible damage, then a supplement with photographs and part numbers submitted to the adjuster.

We photograph every layer as it comes off, because an adjuster who never sees a rotted stud has no basis to authorize replacing it. Documentation is the difference between a supplement approved in days and one that stalls for weeks while the coach occupies a bay.

Owners still control the repair. California law lets you choose your own shop, so a Placentia owner is not obligated to use a carrier's preferred network. We work directly with the adjuster on scope and rate while the authorization and any deposit stay between you and us.

What deposit is required before structural work starts?

Authorized repairs over $2,000 take a 50 percent deposit at authorization. On jobs over $10,000 an additional 25 percent is due when the ordered parts arrive, because sidewall skins, cap moldings and chassis components are frequently non-returnable once cut or ordered to a VIN.

Structural jobs occupy a bay for a long time. A moderate side impact on a Class A is commonly a six to ten week repair once parts lead time is included, and a rollover rebuild can run far longer. Deposits keep the parts pipeline moving instead of idling.

Scheduling is sequenced around the paint booth. Bodywork, structural alignment and refinishing compete for the same downstream capacity, so we stage teardown to land when a booth slot is realistically available rather than parking a stripped coach outside.

Questions we get asked

Do you serve Placentia if I cannot drive the coach in?
Yes. Placentia is about ten minutes from the shop by way of Yorba Linda Blvd, and non-drivable coaches arrive by flatbed or heavy tow. All repair work is performed in-shop, which is the point: the frame equipment, the lift capacity and the enclosed paint booth cannot be replicated anywhere else.
How much does a major RV collision repair cost?
The realistic range is $1,000 for a light rear corner scuff to $150,000 for a rollover rebuild on a diesel pusher. Body labor is $210 per hour, mechanical is $260 per hour, and parts carry 100 percent markup under $100 and 35 percent over $100. A written estimate follows teardown.
Can you tell me the price before you take anything apart?
Only as a range. Collision damage on a laminated RV wall hides behind the skin, so a visual appraisal routinely misses rotted studs, crushed outriggers and separated luan. A $150 RV systems estimate, applied as a credit against the repair, buys a real teardown and a real number.
What kinds of vehicles do you take?
Class A, B and C motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers, camper vans, box trucks and commercial fleet units. The 35,000 square foot facility was built around the height and length of full size coaches rather than around passenger cars, which is why oversized work fits.
