RV Appliance Repair and Replacement in Placentia, California
RV appliance repair covers refrigerators, roof air conditioners, furnaces, cooktops, microwaves and washer dryer units. We service Dometic, Norcold and Furrion refrigerators along with the common rooftop air and furnace platforms. Repairs run about $350 to $4,500 at $260 per hour. Work is performed in-shop in Yorba Linda, roughly ten minutes from Placentia.
Why is my RV refrigerator not cooling?
Absorption refrigerators from Dometic and Norcold cool by boiling an ammonia solution, which requires heat, level operation and a working ventilation path. Loss of cooling usually means a failed heating element, a blocked flue, poor ventilation, a control board fault, or a cooling unit that has crystallized internally.
The ventilation check comes first because it is cheap and it is frequently the answer. Insect nests in the burner tube, a blocked lower vent and a missing baffle all starve the flue of draft, and the unit then cannot shed heat regardless of how healthy the cooling unit is.
A crystallized or leaking cooling unit is the terminal diagnosis, identifiable by a yellow residue and an ammonia smell at the back of the unit. At that point the choice is a replacement cooling unit or a switch to a Furrion or residential compressor refrigerator, which changes the electrical picture.
Why does my RV air conditioner freeze up or blow warm?
Freezing over is almost always restricted airflow: a clogged return filter, a crushed or disconnected duct, or a blower wheel packed with dust. Blowing warm without freezing points instead at the capacitor, the compressor, the control board or a refrigerant loss that cannot be recharged on a sealed rooftop unit.
The capacitor is the most common single failure. A weak start capacitor lets the fan run while the compressor merely hums and trips on thermal overload, which owners describe as an air conditioner that blows air but never gets cold on a hot afternoon.
Duct sealing matters in ducted coaches. A disconnected plenum inside the ceiling dumps conditioned air into the roof cavity instead of the living space, so the unit runs constantly, the coach never cools, and the evaporator ices from the reduced return.
What causes an RV furnace to run but not produce heat?
A furnace that spins the blower and then shuts down without igniting is usually failing a safety interlock. The sail switch has to prove airflow, the limit switch has to prove the chamber is not overheating, and the igniter and gas valve have to deliver flame within the trial period.
Low battery voltage is an underrated cause. RV furnace blowers need adequate current to spin fast enough to close the sail switch, so a coach on a tired battery bank will crank the blower, fail to prove airflow and lock out, which reads as a furnace fault rather than an electrical one.
Cooktops and ovens fail more simply, at the igniter, the thermocouple or the regulator. Any propane appliance repair here includes a leak test on the affected run, because a leaking fitting inside a cabinet is a hazard that outweighs whatever the original complaint was.
