Cargo Van Body Repair Serving Placentia, California

A standard roof work van earns its living, so the damage is rarely dramatic and almost always cumulative: creased sides, a bent slider, a rear door that will not latch and graphics that no longer line up. We handle Placentia work vans in-shop in Yorba Linda, shelving out and back in, with fleet color matched to the rest of your vehicles.

Does the shelving have to come out before panel work?

Usually yes, and it is not optional if the damaged panel is behind a shelf run. Adrian Steel and Ranger Design packages are through bolted into the van sides and floor, and you cannot straighten sheet metal you cannot reach from the back without pulling the unit.

We remove the shelving in sections, tag each unit and its hardware, and photograph the layout before the first bolt comes out. When it goes back, it goes back to the same holes in the same order, because a driver who has to relearn where the fittings live loses time every day for a month.

The partition bulkhead often comes out too. It bolts to the roof, the floor and both sides, so it fights any attempt to pull or push a side panel back to shape. Existing through holes get sealed properly on reinstall so the cargo area does not start taking water at the floor line.

What actually fails on cargo van doors and side panels?

Loading dock contact, tight alley turns and daily door cycling do most of the damage. The sliding door catches posts and mirrors, the rear doors get sprung by wind or a shifted load, and the long flat sides collect creases that are far harder to fix well than a rounded car fender.

Rear doors that will not latch are usually a hinge and striker problem rather than a latch problem. We check the hinge pins, the mounting surface, the door skin at the hinge reinforcement and the body opening itself, then reset both doors so the center seal compresses evenly and the weather strip stops chewing.

Long side panels get straightened to the metal. A crease across a flat, lightly crowned panel shows every wave, so we work it back with the right combination of pulling, shrinking and blocking, then check the surface under raking light before primer. Filling a crease on a cargo van side is how you get a panel that looks fine in the shop and terrible in daylight.

Cargo floors and liners take their own abuse. We repair or replace floor sections, reseal the seams and refit plywood or composite liner so it sits flat, because a lifted liner edge catches load and pulls fasteners out of the floor within weeks.

How do you match fleet color across vans of different ages?

White is the hardest color in the fleet world because there are dozens of them and they all age differently. A five year old van and a current generation van in the same nominal factory white will not spray to the same panel without a measured variant and a sprayout card.

We pull the paint code, measure the actual panel, select the correct variant and shoot a sprayout before committing to the van. Adjacent panels are blended rather than hard edged at a body line, so the repair reads as one continuous side rather than one bright door in the middle of a weathered van.

Graphics are coordinated as part of the job. Existing vinyl is removed from panels being refinished, and we schedule reinstallation with your wrap shop or supply the panel dimensions so replacement graphics are cut to the correct size before the van is finished and sitting.

Questions we get asked

Can I leave my tools and shelving in the van?
Leave the shelving, take the tools. We remove and reinstall Adrian Steel, Ranger Design and similar packages as part of the job and document the layout so it goes back exactly as it was. Loose tools, parts inventory and customer material should go home with you, since we are not set up to inventory a rolling stockroom.
Will the repaired panel match the rest of my white fleet?
That is the point of measuring rather than trusting the code. Factory whites have multiple variants and they weather differently, so we measure the actual panel, pick the closest variant, spray a card and confirm before the van gets painted. Adjacent panels are blended so the side reads as one color instead of one fresh door.
What does a typical cargo van panel repair cost?
Minor body and paint work on a work van generally falls between 950 and 4800 dollars depending on how many panels are involved and whether the shelving has to come out. Fleet graphics and paint packages run higher, in the 1800 to 9500 range. Body and paint labor is 210 dollars per hour and the estimate is documented with photographs.
