Fifth Wheels
Luxury Destination Fifth Wheel Paint and Hydraulic Service for Placentia
Full-body paint, residential appliances and hydraulics make a luxury destination fifth wheel a different animal to repair. We handle multi-stage paint blending on high-gloss finishes, Lippert Level-Up six-point leveling faults, hydraulic slide rams, tile and hardwood interior repair and paired roof air units for Placentia owners at our Yorba Linda paint booth and full-height bays.
How do you match full-body paint on a high-gloss coach?
Luxury fifth wheels wear automotive-grade multi-stage finishes with metallics, pearls and clear graphics laid over a gel coat or primed composite substrate. Matching that is a blending problem, not a color-mixing problem, and it is why we have a dedicated booth.
We spray sprayout cards, check them against the coach in daylight and under booth light, then plan blend boundaries at body lines and panel breaks rather than in the middle of a flat surface. On metallics we blend two panels past the repair so the flop matches from every viewing angle.
Clear graphics and stripe layers get rebuilt in sequence, base, graphic, clear, and then the whole area is cut and buffed to match the surrounding gloss. Gel coat repairs on the same coach are color matched and blended separately since the material behaves differently under the buffer.
Body and paint labor is $210 per hour. A full-side repaint on a large luxury coach lands in the upper part of our range, and we will show you the panel-by-panel plan before anything gets sanded.
What goes wrong with hydraulic slides and six-point leveling?
Lippert Level-Up systems run the leveling jacks and often the slide rooms off one hydraulic power unit. When something drifts, sags or refuses to retract, the fault could be at the pump, a solenoid, a cylinder seal or the controller, and they all look alike from the touchpad.
We start at the power unit: fluid level and condition, pump motor draw, and whether the solenoid manifold is actually shifting. A single leaking solenoid seat will bleed a jack down overnight and make the coach look like it has a bad cylinder.
Hydraulic slide rooms drift out of square when one cylinder loses seal and the room travels unevenly. We rebuild or replace cylinders in pairs, re-time the room, and check the slide floor structure since a room that has been binding has usually been working the floor as well.
Six-point leveling faults also come from sensor and controller issues rather than hydraulics at all. A one hour diagnostic is $285 and is applied as a credit toward the repair, which is generally cheaper than replacing parts on a guess.
Do you repair tile, hardwood and residential appliances?
Yes, and on a destination coach that is most of the interior. These units are built with real tile, engineered hardwood, solid surface counters, residential refrigerators and washer dryer sets, and repairing them takes actual trade work rather than replacing an RV module.
Tile cracks along the slide travel path and at floor transitions where the structure flexes. We lift the affected field, address the substrate movement underneath, and reset tile with a matched grout so the repair reads as original rather than a patch.
Hardwood and engineered plank damage from a slide seal leak needs the moisture source fixed first. Once the wall or roof leak is corrected we replace the affected planks and blend the finish, and where a whole run is cupped we replace the run to a transition.
On the roof, these coaches usually carry two roof air units, sometimes a Coleman-Mach and a Dometic Penguin II. We service both, correct the gasket compression that causes ceiling drips, and repair the membrane and framing where a unit has been leaking long enough to soften the deck.
