Mobile Workshop and Tool Body Repair Serving Placentia

A workshop van carries loads no factory body was designed for: a vise pulling on a wall, a compressor shaking a floor, and a ladder rack levering the roof every time you load. Why do shelving and bench mounts tear out of a van body?

Because the load is dynamic, not static. A vise takes a wrenching side load. A drawer unit full of fittings slams forward at every stop. Shelving anchored into thin sheet metal instead of structure will eventually elongate the holes and start working, and once it works it accelerates.

We repair torn anchor zones by getting the load back into the body structure: backing plates, distributed anchors and reinforcement tied into the pillars and floor crossmembers rather than into a skin that was never meant to hold it. Ranger Design and Adrian Steel shelving gets remounted correctly rather than rehung on the same failed pattern.

Workbench and vise mounting stress is the worst case because the leverage is long and the load is intermittent. A bench that flexes visibly under a wrench is already fatiguing its mounts and the wall behind them. We repair the wall structure and mount the bench so the reaction spreads across the body, not into one bracket.

Compressor and generator mounting brings vibration into the mix. Fatigue cracks around isolator mounts spread through the floor pan and get worse as the mount loosens. We repair the cracked structure, reinforce it and reset the isolators so the unit stops beating on its own mounting.

Can you fix a roof torn by a ladder rack, and body panels beaten by tools?

Yes, and both are common enough that we plan for them. Ladder rack mounting points tearing the roof is a classic on high roof vans: the rack levers against the mounts every time a ladder is thrown up, and the fasteners start elongating and leaking before they visibly tear.

We repair the torn roof structure, install proper backing and reinforcement at the rack feet, reseal the penetrations and remount the rack so the load transfers into the roof bows instead of the skin between them. Left alone this becomes a leak into the shelving and the tools before it becomes a structural repair.

Panel damage from tool strikes and load shift gets repaired from the inside where possible, since the interior build makes conventional access difficult. Where the build has to come out, we document it and put it back at the same layout. Low-clearance strikes on high cube vans are handled the same way, from the structure outward.

Electrical for on-board power gets addressed at the same time: inverter and shore power circuits, damaged runs behind torn panels, and terminations that vibration has loosened. Placentia trades running out of a workshop van usually need the whole van right, not one panel, so we schedule it as one intake.

How the work runs, step by step

    Loaded inspection of mounts and anchors

    We inspect shelving, bench, drawer and rack anchors with the build in place to find elongated holes and working fasteners.

    Selective build removal

    Only the sections blocking access come out, labeled and photographed so the layout goes back exactly as the crew works it.

    Structure repair and reinforcement

    Torn structure is repaired, backing plates and reinforcement go in, and cracked mount zones get treated before anything remounts.

    Remount, seal and power check

    Shelving, bench and rack are remounted into the reinforced structure, penetrations resealed, and on-board power verified under load.

Questions we get asked

My ladder rack is pulling out of the roof and now it leaks. What is involved?
The rack feet have been levering against the roof skin instead of the roof bows, so the fasteners elongated their holes and the sealant broke. We repair the torn roof structure, install backing at the feet so the load transfers into the bows, reseal every penetration and remount the rack. Fixing the leak without fixing the mounting just delays the same failure.
Do I have to strip out my shelving before bringing the van in?
No. We remove only what blocks access, and we photograph and label it first so it returns to the exact layout your crew is used to. Ranger Design and Adrian Steel systems come apart predictably. If your build is custom we document it more thoroughly at intake so nothing is guessed at on reassembly.
How long will my work van be off the road?
Mount and anchor reinforcement work commonly runs three to seven shop days. Add collision panel repair, paint and graphics and it can run two to three weeks. We schedule work vehicles into a slot and give you a target date at authorization, because a service van in a bay is a crew standing around, not just a vehicle out of service.
